Free training for our cafe volunteers

Cafe volunteers will be given free training and support including a Level 2 in Food Safety for Catering.

Cafe Supervisor

Have you any catering experience? Do you have excellent leadership skills? Would you like to help our management group set up and develop a cafe in the heart of Rock Ferry?

Well here is your chance!

We are looking for a cafe supervisor to help run our community cafe. This will involve menu development, stock control, supervision of cafe assistants and working closely with the management group to promote the cafe.

Support and training will be provided.

Cafe Assistant

We require a part time Cafe Assistant for the following hours:

Tuesday 8am-12noon or 11.30am-3.30pm
Thursday 8am-12noon or 11.30am-3.30pm
     

In addition, we will be starting a luncheon club which will operate twice a month and staffing will be required for this. We hope that once local demand increases, the opening hours of the cafe will be expanded and so too will the opportunities for local residents to work with us.

No experience is necessary as FREE training will be provided.

Job Description for Cafe Supervisor

Responsible to: Viking Management group  
Duties may include:
General Tasks
This includes on a daily basis the following
 ·         Ensuring that we have sufficient supplies needed to maintain the daily menu
 ·         To prepare and cook whatever is necessary to maintain the daily menu
 ·         To supervise other cafe workers in their work
 ·         To ensure that a weekly ‘cash & carry’ run is carried out which takes into account school holidays,birthday parties, outside catering activities or any other special activities that might require extra supplies or special requirements.
 ·         To assist in the planning and other operational practices required when putting on special events. Customer Service The priority of the cafe staff is to provide a friendly and efficient full service to all of its customer at all times which means
 ·         Maintaining the opening times as agreed
 ·         Providing the full menu throughout the opening times of the cafe
 
Financial
 ·         To complete the cafes daily cashing up sheet, or to supervise the training of other cafe workers carrying out the job.
·         Ensuring that any cash expenditure for provisions for the cafe are covered by a receipt.

Training
 ·         Provide induction training to cafe assistants, trainees and work experience students.
 ·         To ensure that all members of staff have up to date health & hygiene certificates and to liaise with the Viking management group to source other relevant training opportunities.
·         To attend and contribute to the Viking management group meetings.

Maintenance
 ·         To ensure the cafe space, equipment and furnishing are properly maintained and the Management group are notified of any damages.
·         Ensure the cafe areas inside and out are clean, safe and hygienic at all times and that adequate security measures are taken.
 ·         Ensure that basic cleaning duties are carried out.

Staffing
·         To ensure that a weekly rota is completed taking into account any additional bookings, staff holidays and illness.
·         Keep the management group informed of any staffing problems concerning staff not carrying out duties, being late, staff illness etc. Other duties To carry out other duties as required by the Viking Management group from time to time.        

Job Description for Cafe Assistant

Responsible to:                    Cafe Supervisor  
Duties may include:
 ·         Operating the till and balancing it on a daily basis

·         Keeping accurate time sheets daily

·         Assisting with ordering supplies, locally where possible

·         Checking that orders have been correctly delivered and charged for

·         Serving customers in a pleasant and courteous manner

·         Cleaning the kitchen, cafe area and cafe toilets in accordance with Health and Safety Regulations and Guidance

·         Keeping cleaning and temperature records

·         Undertaking the preparation of the food and beverages served in the cafe

·         Clearing tables

·         Washing up

·         Ensuring that the cafe environment is pleasant and welcoming in line with the image agreed with the Viking Management group

·         Ensuring that any risk assessments are complied with

·         Maintaining such records as are required by the Cafe Supervisor

·         To ensure a high level of customer satisfaction is achieved. In the event of any complaint, justified or otherwise, deal sensitively/ diplomatically with the objective of ensuring the customer will be minded to return and tell others of our high standards and proper response. Follow the Viking Centre & Youth club grievance procedure.

·         To ensure proper cash/till procedures are followed.

·         To work harmoniously with colleagues, being aware of the limitations of some.

·         Advise the Cafe Supervisor of all breakages and equipment defects and report and maintenance issues
